Hannah’s Chance Foundation
Hannah’s Chance Foundation was established in October 2007
to raise valuable funds for medical research to help find a
cure for a rare type of cancer called sarcomas.
The establishment of Hannah’s Chance Foundation was the
dream of Hannah Ciobo, daughter of Australian swimming great
Tracey Wickham and Robert Ciobo, and Hannah’s husband Tom
O’Driscoll. Hannah fought very bravely against the rare
synovial sarcoma for three years until she lost her battle
on 2 October 2007, aged 19. Tom suffered from Ewings
sarcoma, but fortunately is now in remission.
Hannah and Tom felt it was extremely important to raise both
awareness of sarcomas and the funds needed to further
research into this under-resourced area.
Due to the limited amount of research currently being
undertaken on sarcomas there is every possibility that, with
the community’s support, Hannah’s Chance Foundation can make
a significant difference to the lives of thousands of
sarcoma sufferers in Australia and around the world.
Administered by The Wesley Research Institute, a centre
dedicated to making an immediate and lasting difference to
people’s lives through medical research, the Foundation will
support research projects across Australia to help find a
cure for sarcoma.
Tony Phillips is currently the chairman of the foundation
board and is passionate about raising funds for research
into the cause of sarcoma and the support of the victims and
their families.

The NightWatch Project
The NightWatch Project is a unique overnight (midnight to
dawn) community service run through ChaplainWatch Inc. which
focuses on ‘public safety in public spaces’.
The NightWatch volunteers respond to ‘violence in the city’
by patrolling the streets looking out for anyone in trouble.
They fill the gap between when a good time turns into an
emergency, providing rapid response with crisis
intervention, frontline first aid and personal support. This
is a unique service working alongside emergency services
(police and ambulance), that is completely run by
volunteers.
The volunteers are motivated by the fact that they
unconditionally help someone’s son or daughter, grandchild,
father or mother, friend or lover every single week.
Murdochs proudly support the NightWatch Project.
